Design

In design, Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 is slim but has a longer structure than other competitors due to the arrangement of the keypad. When you install it on your door, it will not disturb you by the area it covers. We liked how it looks on the door.

User Codes

We have successfully programed a total of 6 user codes. User codes should be 2 to 8 digits length. There is no master code option or one time user code. One time user code would be great for this electronic deadbolt but they skipped this. We think that 6 user codes are sufficient for general usage purposes.

Similar competitor models Tacklife Keypad Electronic Deadbolt and Kwikset 264 Contemporary Keypad Deadbolt has also 6 user code memory but they have +1 one time usage code memory so we found these ones more flexible about user codes.

Programming of Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02

Programming user codes is quite simple. For all programming operations, the cover of the interior unit needs to be opened and a small operation is required. Since there is no master code option, the interior unit’s over should be opened every time. For programming details, we share the Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 programming manual at here.

Backlit

As all other locks, Milocks has also backlit on the keypad. Brightness of the light is very sufficient for night usage, but not enough for daylight usage. Despite this, there is absolutely no problem in daytime usage due to the design of the keys.

To activate the backlit, just press the button with Milocks logo at the top of the keypad. Generally, if there is a button at the top of the keypad with a logo, it does not only activates the backlit but also locks the door but it is not working that way at Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02. Locking is done by pressing the lock button at the bottom of the keypad.

No Auto Lock Function

We wanted to write this topic as a subtitle because we don’t want to pass it off with a single sentence. Auto locking is a must for these types of locks. You simply set a time and your door gets locked automatically after that time passes over the last unlocking operation. Some models does not let you to change the timer but at least they have the auto lock option.

We can not understand why an electronic deadbolt doesn’t have this feature? Milocks has failed one step behind of the competitors due to lack of auto lock feature.

Security of Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02

Security is never a joke. Security is still the top priority of the lock you install on your door, whether smart or electronic or normal. Nobody would like to install a lock on their door with a lack of security. Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 has BHMA Grade 3 certificate which is the lowest score but it is secured enough for home usage. Grade 2 or 1 is more secured but Grade 1 is generally used at the places which requires very high security.

Milocks claim that their model is bump resistant but this doesn’t mean that it is 100% bump proof. As you might already know bump locking is a widely used attacking method to unlock the doors.

Another security feauture is intruder alarm which is triggered by entering incorecct password 4 times in order. It is not an extremely loud alarm but good enough to disturb someone who tries to unlock your door.

As our final thoughts, we can say that Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 has very similar security levely as Tacklife Keypad Electronic Deadbolt and Kwikset 264 Contemporary Keypad Deadbolt but they are all one step behind of Kwikset 913 Smartcode Electronic Deadbolt.

Battery Life of Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02

Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 requires 4 x AA batteries to operate. Milocks does not send you these batteries as out of the box so you must buy your own batteries. We always suggest our readers to buy high quality batteries in order to experience maximum battery life. We will suggest you Duracell batteries or Energizer AA Batteries as we have seen them as one of the best options for these kind of locks.

We have worked hard to provide you with accurate information regarding the battery life of this lock. We calculated the average battery consumption at various doors and in different conditions. We contacted some users and asked about their experiences, as we did for other locks. In our opinion, Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 will work for average 5-6 months. We think that this is a normal usage time for this type of products. Some users have said that the battery drained in as short as 1 month, but it is obvious that these items were defective and Milocks will change them under warranty

We want to remind you that battery life depends on many factors such as condition of the door, weather conditions, usage frequency, qualiy of the batteries, etc. We have seen dramatic differences between some users of the same electronic deadbolts or smart locks so there is no guarantee that you can have the same battery life.

No one would like to stay out of the door with a electronic deadbolt without energy. In order to prevent this situation, Milocks Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt DF-02 has low battery indicator to protect you from unexpected battery drains. When you hear longer set of rapid beeps after pressing the lock button, this means you should change the battery as soon as possible. Probably you will have have at least 15 days to change the battery before it drains. If it drains, you can still use your existing key to unlock the door.

Battery changing can be done in 1 minute. Just slide up the the cover of the interior unit and replace the batteries. You won’t need to remove any screws for the whole process.
