When you want you buy a Yale Assure Lock you will see these choices as classic keypad, touchscreen keypad and key-free touchscreen keypad. We share our experiences with Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen but we will also tell the differences between other keypad versions.

Touchscreen keypad has a great design with ideal dimensions. It will fit on your door as a part designed for your door. Keys are getting illuminated once you touch the screen. Brigtness of the light is ideal for day and night usage.

Locking operation is easy as touching the keypad with your 3 fingers. You should activate one-touch locking before you try this. We loved this feature because it is different from other touchscreen keypads which requires awakening the keypad and pressing the lock button. This feature makes things much easier.

Unlimited number of codes can be stored on this package because of Connected By August kit. These codes should be 4-8 digits length. First ever code will be the master code of the lock. Creating the codes possible in 2 ways. You can either use the keypad or use August lock app. We will share the code types under “user codes” subtitle.

User Codes

August Home app lets you create user codes and track them. Whenever someone uses the code you will get notifications about the usage. You can view details of the usage as when/who locked or unlocked the door on the August lock app. We will share you code types that you can create.

  • Always: When you create this code, any user who has this code can lock/unlock your door without any time limitations. Code will always work until you delete it.
  • Recurring: You have a visitor coming to your house every week at the same days and hours? You can create this code and choose the days with working hours. It will work repeatedly until you delete it. As an example if you are having a service in your house which is always at Wednesday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM you can let your guest in at every Wednesday between 10:00 AM and 02:00 PM .

Auto Lock Menu on August Home App
Auto Lock Menu on August Home App

Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen Connected By August has auto unlock feature very similar other smart locks August Smart Lock Pro 3rd Gen and Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro with Wi-Fi Bridge. It is disabled by deafult so if you enable it, you phone will be a bridge between your smart lock and you. Your door will be unlocked when you are in approximately ~15 ft range of the lock.

Auto unlock detects your location by GPS and checks if you are in the Geofence range. Once you enter to Geofence area which is 200 meters, your smart lock will be ready to find your phone. Finally, when you are in the ~15 ft range to your door, it will be auto unlocked. This feature is a life saver when you come back to your house with your hands full of bags.

You might be thinking if your locked will be unlocked again while you are at house but don’t worry. As long as you are in the 200 meters Geofence area, your smart lock will not activate auto lock. You should go out of 200 meters range and come back in order to activate it again.

If you experinece any problems with auto lock, we suggest you to check your GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Auto lock uses all of these and if any of them have a problem then you might face with unlocking problems so make sure all of them working well.

Battery Life of Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen Connected By August

This smart lock is powered by 4 x AA Alkaline batteries. We can never guarantee batyery life on these kind of devices because there are couple o facotors effecting the battery life. Some of these factors can be listed as enabled features, usage frequency, lock’s turn number, condition of the door, weather, etc. We always suggest our readers to buy Duracell batteries for a longer usage experience.

We didn’t have enough time to test Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen‘s battery life but we have calculated the battery consumption of the system and tested it in different conditions. We have also contacted with some of the long time users and asked their experiences. From what we have heard and calculated, we can easily say that battery will last between 2 – 3 months.

Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen has 2 low battery indicators. When your batteries get low to critical levels Low Battery Warning indicator on the smart lock will flash RED and you will receive notifications to your mobile phone from August lock app. You should change them as soon as possible. Don’t worry about forgetting to change the batteries. If you do so, you have 2 options to solve the problem. You can either use a 9V battery to charge it from the socket of your touchscree or you can still use your existing key to unlock the door.

Changing batteries of a smart lock should be easy and fast in our opinion. This one has extremely easy battery changing process. Just remove the screw on the interior unit and slide the cover up. You will see the batteries to replace in front of you. Whole process will be around 1 minute.
